I've been in a search the past few months for the best roasted chicken in New York City. Everyone in my comments has been saying I HAVE to try Malecon. Malecon this, Malecon that. When I went to the one on the Upper West Side and just felt it was a bit uninspired, everyone then harshly informed me I went to the wrong location. "We only claim tha one in the heights!!" referring to the Washington Heights Location. I put my ego aside, and thought if people are so passionate about this then there must be some merit to it. My big bro and I made the 1 hour and 6 minute trip on a blessed Sunday to see what all the hype was about. From the window, you can see 6 different rotisserie ovens all filled with mouth watering chicken. A beautiful site. Right when we walked in, I understood. There is so much soul in here. It was JUMPIN at 2:30pm. There were two separate birthday parties with tables of 8+ where the whole restaurant joined in to sing happy birthday. The staff and customers were interacting like lifelong friends. There was a table of 5 dudes who cheersed a plastic cup filled with a shot Crown Royal, talking about "I'm so grateful for you guys..." Just the ultimate community feel in here. We were STARVING and vibes were up, so we ordered a feast: 2 half chickens, a side of rice and beans, 2 different types of plantains, fried chicken, mofongo, steak, fried rice with chicken and spanish sausage, and some french fries. Honestly, everything was fantastic, but I'm really the rotisserie chicken expert so here it goes: Having tried over 35 different roasted chicken spots in NYC at the time of writing this, Malecon is unquestionably top 3. It's a true chicken titan. Crispy golden brown skin, tender juicy meat that is flavorful and well seasoned, and not overly salty. Fall off the bone chicken. This is just about as close to a perfect chicken you can get. They had this green sauce too that big bro and I could not get over. Most green sauces these chicken places have are super heavy and seemingly Mayo based, but this one was light and just added a slight accent to the flavor of the meat. We ended up putting it on everything and had to keep asking for more. I also NEED to shout out our waitress. She was unreal. Checking on us just enough without being overbearing, smiling everytime we asked for more green sauce, and boxed up our food with meticulous attention to detail like my latino Granny used to do when I'd go over to her place for dinner. So much love in here. After I posted a pic on my Instagram story, this random guy DM'd me saying "I got this place's logo tattooed on me for a reason." I think that says more than these words I'm writing could ever say. On their website, Malecon refers to themselves as "El Rey Del Pollo," and they just might be. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

I love to come here. Never had no issues with this restaurant the food is always fresh and the restaurant is kept clean. The customer service is always good as well and I've been coming here ever since I've been coming to NY. So anytime I want some bomb Dominican food I'll just hop in the car and drive that 10 minute drive across the GW bridge. So thank you Malecon for having such great food and service!! Ps I can't believe I haven't been gave this place a review..

This place was very full on Saturday evening. For good reason too! The food was delicious and the servings were extremely large portions so if you're a light eater, I suggest you bring a friend or two to share with. We had the whole pollo asado (whole roasted chicken), arroz y habichuelas negras and rojas (rice with black and red beans), salad, ensalada de papa (potato salad), yucca frita (fried yucca), and tostones (fried plantains). We also ordered a mango juice, a pineapple juice, and a raspberry country club. It was all delicious! The waiter was very nonchalant and just kind of stood there without saying anything when he first walked up to our table, and throughout our service. I thought this was a little funny and different from what Dominican waiters are usually like. I'm used to their friendly and very out going personalities. Other than that the atmosphere was pretty chill and had a good casual vibe. My friends had never eaten Dominican food before and they said they loved it all. My Peruvian friend said it reminded her of foods from her country. It was very flavorful and filling. They definitely want to make sure they revisit here when they come back. I'm also adding this as a place to hit up when I'm in NYC. The cost was a little pricey, but if you're sharing with someone it's pretty reasonable. I recommend you give them a try and see for yourself if you'd like them. I forgot to get a picture before we started eating, everything smelled and tasted delicious!

Take out order 4.25 stars The menu is LARGE Not many places have mofongo so I had to get it The mofongo was great (I got pork+ sausage). The Chicharron on the side was delicious. But the pork in the Morfongo was all pork belly (all fat). Would probably get shrimp next time. The Maduros were standard The chicken was well seasoned and overall very tasty and moist. Only a few dry pieces. The rice and beans were great. Overall really tasty and would definitely try other things from the menu

Malecón in Little Dominican Republic is the go-to spot in the neighborhood, and it shows! We stopped by on a packed Sunday, but luckily were seated in 10 minutes. They start you off right with complimentary toasted bread - perfectly crispy and a lifesaver for the hangry, haha. We dove into shrimp mofongo, churrasco, chicharrón de pollo, and two types of rice and beans. The mofongo stole the show - that sauce was so flavorful, I wish I could take a bottle home! The chicharrón was a bit too hard and chewy, and the churrasco was just okay. The passionfruit juice? A letdown - tasted worse than store-bought. Portions are huge, service was top-notch, so I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. Hoping for a better hit next time!

I had a great experience at Malecon! ** disclaimer that I am not well-versed in dominican food, so these impressions are coming from someone who is not familiar with the cuisine as a whole ** Half Chicken w/ Maduras (4/5): Chicken was well seasoned, but a bit dry in parts. The green sauce they served with it was spicy and sour, wish there was more of it to make up for the dryness. The sweet plantains were perfect, loved the caramelization on the outside, portion size was massive for a "side." Mango Batido (5/5): Perfect sweet drink to soak up the saltiness of the chicken! Tres Leches (5/5): Soft, delicious, sweet, moist-- everything you want out of a good tres leches Interior was lively, a lot of birthdays going on when I went! Staff was so kind and accommodating for our larger party of 9 (although getting a larger table might be difficult on other nights, I went on a Monday and the restaurant was still looking pretty busy). Overall, would definitely go again and try the mofongos or any of their other dishes, they all looked phenomenal
